Hi!
I built a sweet little servo control and power pack as seen on picture. I am using arduino mega for controlling some servos. I have 2x 6V external battery packs for power support on the side. My question is:
Do i have to connect both of the black (ground) wires of the battery packs to the arduino or is it enough if i connect only one black cable from just one battery pack? (The arduino is powered by the usb cable.)
And what will happen if i don't connect the arduino's ground to the battery pack's ground?

Why would you not want to?

Give that a shot.
okay, thank you, i will try. hopefully it doesn't blow up. for me electrocetchnics is kinda like magic lol

How about answering my question.
Why are you trying to get out of connecting both battery Negs/Gnds together and to the Arduino Gnd?

Once you have tried it, read this page:-
