External power use problem

When I power arduino with 7.5 V wall charger adaptor I get 6.4 volts at 5V pin. This happened with my Nano board also is it that my board regulators are faulty or gone ?

Welcome to the forum

How are you connecting the wall charger output to the Arduino ?

  • If you are measuring between the 5v pin to GND, your board goes into the garbage.

  • What does the 7.5v measure ?

Is the type of Arduino board a secret? You can tell me, I won't tell.

Please read the how to get the best from the forum posts.

Have you measured that under load?

By a barrel jack or through Vin and ground of the board
I removed the controller chip from the board (arduino Uno R3 )

Iam not sure if the chip receives 6.4 volts whether it will survive. I do not know how to load without taking the risk of burning the chip

  • There are other components that use 5v, if you are getting 6.4v, these components will be damaged too.
