Extract power from mobile phone

Hi

Does anyone knows how to extract power from the mobile phone's audio jack or charging port and to provide that power to other circuit. There is 1 research paper regarding this [ http://web.eecs.umich.edu/~prabal/pubs/papers/kuo10hijack.pdf ] , but if I am not wrong, this entire thing is fairly complex.

Is there any other way to extract it. I need it to implement in my project work.

What are you trying to power? What sort of phone? There is a 3.3 Volt output on the iPhone dock connector, I believe.

I want to make a universal device that can extract power from any simple and generic mobile phone. Yeah, for my circuit 3.3 V is enough.

I'm not convinced you could do that. Not all phones have four connector jack sockets, where you could make use of the microphone/remote power supply.

There might be specific phones you could do it for, but I doubt that there is a generic solution since there is no standard way for handsets to provide power. Why do you 'need to implement in my project work'? Is this actually a requirement, or something that you have assumed in your solution?
