Extreme disprespect by Admins

Dear fellow users of this forum.

You, as users of this forum are being extremely disrespected by the forum administrators.

The disrespect is even worse towards the moderators, to whom complaints are being reported, but who are powerless to the problems this forum faces right now.

Those problems are redirections to fake log in screens far away from this sites' servers.
Reports started six weeks ago at least, and not a single administrator has even bothered to show any interest in it.
Not a single word of confirmation of awareness of any problem at all.
So they aren't aware.

Only thing i can think of to get them of off their lazy asses is to start sending them e-mails.
Perhaps they might wake up that way.
So how about every member of this forum sending a single mail per day to all admins of this site ?
I don't know any better way to get some much needed attention to this serious problem.

If this gets me banned for life, so be it.
I´ll probably be better off then anyway.
I´d certainly be safe from any danger this forum puts me in right now.
If so, also delete all of my messages.

There are other avenues to people who have suitable accounts.

I do not do any of those.
But if anyone does, do use it.
Anything to force attention to this crap.

I experienced this today.
Yes, it was very unpleasant.

This section of the Forum should be preferred way to get the attention of the Admin people when matters concern this Forum.

I have complained about this many times. And I know they have heard me - and have chosen to ignore my requests / suggestions.

I don't see why it was necessary to create yet another thread regarding this issue. The discussion has been fragmented so much already. I'm uncertain whether to post updates to every thread or if that's considered bad form. Since the issue report I submitted hasn't yet been linked on this thread I'll go ahead and repeat myself:

On my issue report @smellai replied at 2017-04-07 0923 PDT:

We found the issue, but we are not sure we completely fixed it. Let us know if it happens again. Thanks everybody for the reports, especially to the people that found out the fake google analytics scripts!

So hopefully the problem is solved. I just temporarily allowed all scripts and have not been able to reproduce the problem so far. If anyone still encounters the redirects please do report it. It may be best to do so on the issue report since that seems to be getting official notice or you can comment here and I'll relay it to GitHub.

I do agree that this sort of thing should be taken very seriously by the web team. While some of us are experienced enough to know not to download and install anything from the sort of sites the redirects were taking us to, some of the posts we see here demonstrate that there are also a lot of forum users who would not be so cautious when they get an "Install this Important Browser Update!" type of popup. Who knows how much damage has been done while the forum was left hacked. The first report of this issue to the "Website and Forum" section was 1.5 months ago. If this forum section was actively monitored by someone in charge this could have been dealt with immediately. The Website and Forum section is really not that active, I don't think it would be a huge amount of extra work to skim the couple posts at most it gets per day. I do that and I don't even work for Arduino.

I do think the forum is not an ideal issue tracker, the GitHub issue tracker is much better. It seems like there is an unspoken expectation that the community will monitor the forum and then transfer verified issues to the trackers. I find this to work well with the trackers for the IDE and similar repositories but my experience with the forum-issues tracker has not given me any confidence that there is any point in taking the time to submit reports there since they seem to be completely ignored. If I felt differently I would have reported this issue there over a month ago when it first happened to me. @smellai's did respond to my report reasonably quickly. For less critical issue reports I don't expect immediate resolution but it would be nice if there was some sort of acknowledgement, such as the labels that are added on the other Arduino issue trackers.

There is a big difference between reporting issues and tracking them.

I expect the Forum Admins to monitor this section of the Forum closely and if anything needs a follow-up by them it is for them to manage that process in whatever way is convenient for them - and a Github page sounds like a good idea. But I have no role in fixing problems and therefore I have no need to track the progress of the Admins.

I also expect the Admins to provide feedback here so we are aware of what they are doing and don't waste time writing 23 different Threads about the same issue.

For F***s Sake - this is the FORUM that the Admins are working on.

I agree. It's quite likely they were already aware of the problem before I took the time to submit that issue report to the tracker. I'm sure other users sent emails to webmaster@arduino.cc for whatever good that may do. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the moderators also reported it through their channels. That represents time wasted on duplicate effort for us and them. If one of the web team had taken 30 seconds to write a quick "We are aware of the issue and working on it" it would have prevented all that and some of the bad feelings generated from the impression that the problem was being ignored.

I think the web team could benefit a lot from looking at what the IDE/core/library developers are doing right in terms of interacting with the community and keeping everything very transparent. It's very effective. Some of the tools such as the forum issues tracker and the reference-en and similar repositories are already in place. The problem is the team doesn't make the effort to use them so they do no good and are actually harmful in some ways. Any effort spent in this direction would surely be swiftly recovered by enabling the community to effectively contribute.

...And now I've got an unwanted William Hill (a betting company) .Apk downloaded.

Thanks for that, guys.

Went to open this thread this morning and got ouo.io and popcash.

Looks like they didn't manage to clear the hack.

Will forward page sources to github.

Try to stay calm everyone. No doubt they have been working hard trying to fix the issue.
