Fairy led lights auto turned ON

Hi. It is not arduino, just simple electronic question.

I bought fairy led lights for Christmas, powered on USB 5v, with remote controller.

The lights must be turned ON from remote or pressing button on USB. But I want that ligts turn ON just when I plug it in power (no matter which Level 1-8). Reason that I want is because I have timer device, and when it power, the led ligts are off.

So, I found soulution that I must solder this two pins (red label) in button switch.

(I tested it by connected pins together, and works!)

Is that safe to do and will be burn after hours of play?

Have you tried posting on the random fairy lights forum?
What did they say?

No, I am not.
I am sure that somebody know here.

OK, OK.

Firstly, you should know the rule here. Post a Web link to the lights in question so we know as much about them as possible.

That said, the button is just a control input to the ASIC chip on the board. It draws a quite negligible current - you could and indeed, should test this by using your multimeter to measure the current when you use the meter to short out the two connections.

So keeping it connected - equivalent to holding your finger on the button permanently - is most unlikely to "burn" anything. Clearly you have adequately tried out this to see if it reliably has the result you wanted.

And - just in case you cannot cite the Web link for the lights - you really should explain all the functions of this button.

As I just recently un-boxed a set of mains-operated lights which use the trick of alternate orientation of diode strings to control two "channels" or colours, I was fascinated to note that these now "remember" which pattern was last set across power cycling, presumably incorporating an EEPROM function of a few memory bits. Is that what yours do?

Sorry, I thought that you ask do I post that in other outside Forum page for lights (outside arduino.cc).

This button on usb on first pres is Power On. On second press is Level 2, etc.. Up to 8 levels, then on ninth press it will turn off. (But on remote control is not On/off at same button, it have two separate buttons for on/off + 8 levels).

I think is not  This is mine:

So, it important to me that not will be fire if I solder this button and avoid switch.:+1:t4:

No, he's joking with you - for posting this on the Arduino forum.

What would be more appropriate, would be to use an Arduino to "press" the button to turn it on and select the desired mode at the required time, then press it again to turn the set off, so you do not need to interrupt the power supply.

What the Aliexpress description does not explain, is what sort of "USB power supply" would be needed to effectively supply three hundred LEDs! :astonished:

Mine is 3x2m, which is only 200 leds🤣

Do you think that usb will work if I connected in computer? Who said that file will be open with arduino inside? I didn't thought about it :face_with_monocle::scream:
Update:
I tried now but nothing, laptop not read a usb.
