FAST RESPONSING LASER SENSOR AND ARDUINO BOARD

I would like to measure the displacement of a surface.
-Sampling rate required- 9,000 Samples per second
-Range of displacement 0 to 1m
-Resolution required <1mm

Kindly help me to choose proper board and sensor.

Currently I have used UNO with VL53L1x sensor. This combination works maximum 21 samples per second. Is there any way to get this sensor more fast. Or I should go for new sensor and new board.

Google will find such sensors. They will be quite expensive.

I think that sensor can go faster - there are a few parameters where you can set a higher speed (faster conversion) at the expense of lower accuracy. Going to 9,000 sps is not an option with that sensor by a long stretch. Getting to 1 mm accuracy is already very hard for that sensor.

At such very small displacement a contact sensor (digital calipers of sorts, maybe a precision pot) may be the way to go.
