Fast way to read pin values? Opposite of PORTx setting?

I am familiar with setting pin values using PORT ... for example:

PORTB = 0x29;

Would change the values of pins D8 through D14 on a nano, setting all of them to 0 except for D8, D11 and D13 which would be set to 1.

But how could I read, for example, the current state of pins D11 and D12 using a similar method? The goal, of course, would be to get those values as quickly as possible and digitalRead consumes far too many clock cycles for my needs.

Thank you,

Mike Sims

I do not have a NANO but look at PINB.
