I've been struggling with keeping dupont pins attached to arduino boards for a long time. It (literally) got to a breaking point this weekend, when one of my interactive sculptures stopped working at a gallery opening. I'm pretty sure that the vibrations from people bang on in the piece (as intended) caused one or more pins to work loose. I need to do a very quick repair; can anyone suggest a specific adhesive or other method for keeping the pins in place? Thanks!
Hot glue.
It is best not to use individual (single pin) Dupont housings. The connections are much more reliable if multiple wires can be assembled into 4, 6, etc. pin housings. Pololu sells all the required bits and pieces, for example.
Could You make some close up pictures and post them?
As professional, broken dupont pins forced a design to be changed.
jremington, The multi-pin housing is such a great idea! And I already have them; simply didn't think of it. And I LOVE hotglue!! Thanks much for the tips, everybody!
To add to this, what also works well is to zip tie all the jumpers together, then tie that bundle down to a mounting hole or something. Once the assembly can't move, it won't vibrate free.
