FDX-B 134.2 kHz RFID reader

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, once again. @red_car have you ever seen any issues where your antenna has an issue detecting the glass microchip in your cat because of the chip's orientation? I am having an issue where if a chip is aimed "into" the antenna (so lengthwise pointed into the center of the antenna), it reads it just fine. However, if you turn it so the long side is perpendicular to the center of the antenna (imagine the antenna being a doorway, and the glass microchip is a stick that a dog is trying to fit through the doorway... the classic case where the stick runs into the door frame), the reception is so bad I have to have the microchip quite literally touching the coils of the antenna. I didn't anticipate this and it has turned into a huge nightmare for the project because I don't know how it is oriented inside my cat.
