Hi I have made an r2d2 body head and legs this is true 1:1 scale yes life size!!!!, currently I want to see the way I want to connect the electronics for the head if it is all possible to run off as few components as necessary. Unless absolutely NECESSARY i do not want to buy expensive shields to run things unless they are cheap and an all in one kit. I have an r3 arduino board.
So the circuit would have
two 8x8 Bi colour (or rgb )LED matrixes for the front top and bottom logic lights( although this could be a 1 unit rectangle and just outwardly looks like two as it would have two cases over it) ,
an rgb led for the psi light (round one at the front hidden behind a round diffuser screen)
A sound module that i could put a few tracks of r2d2 making noises on,
Finally a (if it exists an Led board in the same style as the 8x8 matrixes) 8 x 30 bicolour (or rgb) matrix for the rear socket
I havent bought any Items yet except the arduino board and am open to suggestions but these are the components ( or ones that are roughly the same size and work similarly) I feel I would need and hopefully be able to run off a single arduino board, that will just be able to power them in random patterns on a loop when connected.
I understand that this may not be easy I have a lot of patience and understand electronics due to having an A level in I.T programming and electronics but this was achieved in 1997 and I feel a bit stumped about the arduino and its connectivity at this time!!! having had it for a week!!!
