Feasibility of this Fadecandy project?

Hello!

I want to create a 512 LED matrix using a Fadecandy & Raspberry Pie. I know it's possible to load animations from the Pie and play them on the LED matrix using the Fadecandy as the controller, but is it possible to save animations and map them to buttons, creating a button box with eg. 8 buttons, when a button is pressed the appropriate animation begins and plays on the LED matrix?

Would it be easier to use an Arduino instead of a raspberry pie?

The idea behind this is that I would like to have some buttons beside my DJ controller while I play and be able to choose an appropriate animation depending on what song I play, but just from the push of a button and not by going through a computer.

Thanks for the help!

Information is awfully limited (I've never heard of a "fadecandy" before).

Can you connect those eight buttons easily as inputs to the Pi? (I've never worked with those things). Then that'll be the easiest.

Apologies, a Fadecandy is a USB controlled RGB LED driver. Yes, you can connect eight buttons easily as inputs to a Raspberry pie.

Thanks for your reply
