Feasibility of webcam car project

Using Arduino Project Guidance

Would it be possible to send in visual input to Arduino via some type of camera/webcam? I would like to mount this webcam on a robot car and vary the speed of the car depending on the color of the surface on which it is driving.

I have never done anything with Arduino before, so please keep advice as simple as possible. Thanks!

arduino Yun can be made to accept a usb web cam, got to go unix

I'm thinking that a better option is an RGB sensor. Would I need a Yun for this?

no you would be cool with a standard arduino, you had first asked about a webcam
