Window just warned me that in the arduino folder there was a file named trogan.exe I thought arduino was safe!
Remove Arduino and reinstall from the official source.
Already did that. It must have been some library because I used arduino IDE on that computer for a long time without any problems
Where exactly was the trogan.exe file under the Arduino folder? so we can see what library it might have come from.
I understand that you're annoyed and I'm not a sensitive person but please remove the swearing.
Which version of the IDE? Which version of Windows? Which AV (windows defender)? Have you considered that
- It might be a false positive?
- You picked up trogan.exe (I guess it's actually trojan.exe) in a different way and it placed itself in the Arduino folder?
- Which Arduino folder are we talking about? There are at least three that "Arduino folder" can refer to.
You sure it was trogan.exe and not trojan.exe? Weird either way to name it so to make virus known. Which library it was in?
Sorry typo Trojan.exe
Sorry I got that out of the system so quickly that I don’t remember the file path I am pretty sure that it was in the library’s section. My operating system is windows 11
And this all goes down while I am on the plane coming back from Maryland to Denver
Reason I was able to make posts is because I paid $8 for better united wifi

- You misspelled the program name,
- You did not make a note of the file location,
-- Printscreen will work on an airplane - Win-11 has an embedded AV, right-click and
@mrburnette,
I guess that Microsoft Defender also keeps a log?
If so, @loben can find back what was removed.
Op did not indicate how s/he discovered the exec file nor how the suspected file was removed. But if Win-11 tools were used:
That is really important to know! Thanks for your very thoughtful forum contribution.
