I got R305 fingerptint sensor to send template data to my PC. However, that data is useless as I don't know the format. I want to use an external matching program like griaule or any other matching software. There is a limit of 1000 fingerprints using the hardware matcher. Sending the the entire image through UART would take a very long time.

From the user manual it looks like you can upload and download images and templates. Perhaps by processing each image into a template it is possible to compare templates directly. If so you can scan a finger, upload the template, and search for the template in your template database.
But how can I compare templates? The manual doesn't specify the standard used.
Do a Google search for fingerprint template formats, there is a standard one that is used by nearly everyone.
