Fingure Print Scanner

Hi everyone, I was thinking of having a fingerprint scanner and a lock or some type of actuator to open a lock and when the current/magnetic field is gone it locks up once again.

I googled this idea and sure enough i didnt get much since i want to do all of this with the arduino chip, think you might have an idea?

The web site I saw was the fallowing...
http://www.arduino.cc/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1221654830

Any info or if its even possible please comment, Thanks everyone

Finger print scanning is a quite complex piece of pattern recognition software. It needs a much more powerful processor that that in the Arduino. There are development kits for scanners but they are a few hundred pounds each. The basic chip is a capacitive sensing array and cost about $80 but it needs driving like an LCD array with fast scanning.

I see, so its not very possible with the arduino chip, well it was a good idea, i wanted/want to do this idea for my house and replace all the doors with figure print readers.

Do you know of a site that i could purchase and maybe even the chip where i can put it all together and make this idea possible?

Thanks again.

Just Google "fingerprint recognition"

or try:-

not the cheapest option, but for a fingerprint scanner its relatively cheap, and it looks like it would be simple to interface with the arduino.

Thanks for the info, i dont know much about the arduino or programing at that fact, but hopefully with this site i can learn a thing or two.

I will collect more information and will keep posting if you guys would like me to, but thanks again and if theres any info on this scanning stuff please post.

Thanks everyone.
