fire detection and evacuation system using wireless sensor network

Hi all, i am doing my final year project in fire detection and evacuation system using wireless sensor network. Here how basically it works:

  1. build fire detection wireless sensor network using zigbee technology
  2. collect information from each node and then gather all in a sink node
  3. data will display at terminal (laptop)
  4. process the data and find escape path by following the LED lamp at sensor node.

-information collected might be temperature, smoke and etc..
-I want to use Arduino board with zigbee

I need some guidance on what kind of hardware and software to use, and procedure to start doing this project, because I am totally new in doing project.
