I've spent some time on arduino and hobby-electronics/mechanics with some success, and I got to think if it would be possible to get in contact with my hd-video-camera. My pc does not have a fire-wire or ieee connection ... can I build one on my arduino? Arduino doesn't seem to be the obvious choise, but I can in no way afford a proper pc for the job.
To add insult to injury, I have lost contact to the system-settings as the touch-screen has stopped sensing .. /that/ would be a big problem to solve. I assume that it would be possible through a line-in pendant to the ir-controle ... if one knows a proper protecol and has a map of what's in there. And I havn't got the foggiest clue ...
But the fire-wire is a bit more .. out in the open and accessible. Does that project stand a chance?
No, fire-wire is way out of reach for an Arduino. Operating at minimum 400 Mbit/s the Arduino would have to get 25 bytes (!) per clock cycle.
