firmware upgrade wifi shield

hi downloaded the Flip software, and using the strings in this page: http://arduino.cc/en/Hacking/WiFiShieldFirmwareUpgrading managed to complete the cycle with no errors. however, when running a sketch i get no wifi shield present.

before I upgraded, it found the shield, and connected to the wireless router. however it did not server the page to the ip. I was recommended to upgrade the firmware.

thanks,

Did you remove the DFU programming jumper after you upgraded the firmware?

yes

Then it appears your firmware upgrade failed. Where did you get the upgrade files? I used the files included with IDE v1.0.5. They are: /hardware/arduino/firmwares/wifishield/wifi_dnld/Release/wifi_dnld.elf and /hardware/arduino/firmwares/wifishield/wifiHD/Release/wifiHD.elf

Look at this thread, particularly reply #9. It has the output from a successful upgrade of the wifi_dnld.elf file. The second file upgrade should look identical, except the file name. http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=175173.0 Note the two .elf files had been moved to the root directory. I did the same thing.

hi, should both these files: wifi_dnld.elf and wifiHD.elf be downloaded, still getting wifi shield not present thanks in advance

Yes, both must be installed to complete the upgrade.

this is what I get, i moved the the file to C: for ease of use.

If that is true, then why this?

parsing ELF file....................... PASS c:/wifishield/binary/wifi_dnld.elf Parsing ELF file....................... PASS c:/wifishield/binary/wifiHD.elf

Are you certain you are upgrading with the correct files?

edit: Do you have an R3 model Arduino? If you have a pre-R3 Arduino, you need a jumper from 5v to IOREF on the shield or the wifi shield won't respond. If two pins on the shield overhang on each side, you have a pre-R3 model Arduino.

thanks,
i was using the Sparkfuns red board, switching to the Uno-R3, the shield worked as well as updated.
how should the shield be used on the redboard?
thanks, again

Looks like the same as the Uno. Plug it in and go.
