so i've completed my first project with my new arduino uno.
its an RFID reader that validates the token and opens my garage door.

problem is, I'm not done playing with the arduino. So what do i do next to put this project to use, but not lose my arduino in the process?

Can I program the ATMEL chip on my arduino and then pop it out and plug it in some other (cheaper) type of board to use for my project?

Yes the arduino can be used to programm other 328's ! :slight_smile:

You might also like to try and build a perfboard version on the cheap with these step by step instructions.

Perfboard Standalone Arduino II

It is designed as a cheaper version of the boarduino but could easily be used in a circuit.
