Flat Flex Connector

So, I accidentally bought a tiny LCD module (HDM16216L-S-L30S Hantronix | Mouser) from Mouser that wasn't what I was hoping for. It has a flat flex cable instead of header pins. I'd still like to use it in a project, so I've been surfing Mouser to find a suitable connector for it.

I've never shopped for a FFC connector before, so I thought I'd make sure I have the right part. Will this connector fit my LCD's cable?

What I would do? Solder flat cable wires (regular ones for example from a old floppy driver or a old IDE PC cable) to the place here you have the flex soldered. You don't need all the signals, only 1 to 6, and 11 to 14. You can solder A and K directly to the pins of the board (marked with A and K). After that I will put some hot glue to prevent that the cables get broke.

Jiggy, I looked over both datasheets and I believe that connector should be compatible with that cable. And while luisilva's solution is a good quick and dirty fix, I recommend doing it the right way as you were. Likely no performance or electrical benefit, but it'll look nicer.

Thank you, Unit_One. It looked suitable to me too, just thought I'd check with someone else.

IIRC Seeedstudios do a FFC breakout. Upto 60 pins or something like that.

It looks to be doscontinued. http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/FFC-breakout-board-p-267.html

I'm looking to design a PCB for my project anyway. After a make a through hole PCB, I'm looking to design a surface-mount version to make it a bit smaller and get some experience.

0.5mm FFC SM connectors are tricky to solder unless you use a stencil, the minimum of
paste and a hotplate or toaster oven...

My cable and connector are both 1.0mm pitch.

Phew, that's good!
