Fluid Sensors

Hi,

I would like to find Arduino IoT sensors that can do the following:

  • Calculate the amount of fluid that flows through a plastic tube on a daily basis.
  • Determine the concentation of water in a cleaning solution / water mix by optical means. That means that the percent dilution is calculated optically by analyzing the color of a solution (ex. green solutions diluted by x amount of water)
  • Calculate the amount of fluid remaining in a plastic container, sending an alert when a low level is reached

Do you know of any sensors that might be able to help here?

There are sensors that will make all of the types measurements you list, but it is rather unlikely that any relevant to your particular requirements will be incorporated into off-the-shelf IoT products.

Of course, the sensor details will depend heavily on the actual materials involved, and your post is far too vague to allow guesses on our part.

You might start your quest by googling, for example “iot fluid flow sensors”.

Use an appropriate flow sensor. They come in many sizes and shapes for different volumes and pipe sizes.

LED that transmits the proper wavelength on one side of a window, phototransistor or other light detector that's sensitive for this wavelength (as you talk about green that implies visible, most have no problem with this) on the other side.

  • Calculate the amount of fluid remaining in a plastic container, sending an alert when a low level is reached

That's not a sensor, that's done in code.

Connect those two sensors to an ESP8266 (NodeMCU or WeMOS boards are great for this) and make it into IoT.
