Following Start Up Directions, Arduiono UNO 328P LED 13 flash has errors on

Errors are:
avrdude: usb_open(): did not find any usb device "usb" (in orange text)
also:
Invalid Library found in C:\Users...........

The directions for setup aren't too clear. I'm sure that i probably missed some setup/
The IDE shows that COM4 is selected/used

Any insights?
too much fiddling to get rolling, this is discouraging.
