FONA 800 LED light vs. Serial Monitor

Hi!
I'm trying to troubleshoot some weirdness with a FONA 800 on an Uno. The LED light is indicating the FONA is connected to the cellular network, however, when I pull up the serial monitor, I'm getting the "Couldn't find FONA" message. But, once in a blue moon, the serial monitor will indicate it's connected successfully. What the heck? So aggravating. I have a new antenna on order in case mine has gone bad. Any other thoughts on what this could be? Maybe a soldering issue?
