Font used in reply box just changed

I just noticed that the font used when typing a reply has just changed.
Although when you look at the preview the font is still what I would call normal.
Any idea on the cause of this?

Noticed that as well. I'm reasonably sure that this is done by Discourse as there is a new icon in the toolbar to switch (but you loose the preview).

I just enabled the new "rich text editor" feature of the post composer:

The new font used in the standard "Markdown editor" is intended to communicate that you are writing the source markup (code) of the post.

The reason is the the "rich text editor" is a WYSIWYG editor, so unlike when writing markup there is no need for a preview as the content of the editor is what the post will be rendered as.

I am enjoying the 10cpi elite type font of yesteryear. Looking forward to the green phosphorus 'wang' look and ^k wordstar commands (not to be confused with homestarrunner.com)

Just an observation

When quoting, the cursor is inside the quote when using the WYSIWYG mode; it’s outside the quote (as should be) in markdown mode. This only seems to happen when you start a reply by quoting, not when you quote when a reply is “in progress”. Discourse is already aware of this.

Still in use once a week:

there must be reason why millenials and gen Z are so obsessed with dark mode ^^.

Because cleaning and sorting a box of punch cards was the stuff of nightmares... no nostalgia, only fear.
