For those wondering: My iTeadstudio PCB Experience

So there have been a few people wondering about the iTeadstudio PCB service and how it compares to known cheap bulk places like seeedstudio.

A little over 2 weeks ago I ordered a set of 10cm x 10cm boards for a project I'm working on and we decided to try iTeadstudio this time around since it's $12 cheaper than anything comparable.

Ordered: Oct 4th
Shipped: Oct 11th (pretty quick considering they were closed until the 6th)
Received: Oct 25th

Everything looks great and there are no problems on any boards that I can see. Put one of them together last night and had no problems. Also, one thing to note, on their site they show that the boards are green with black silk only. Much to my surprise, they actually came with white silk, must be a typo.

Overall I'm thoroughly please with the order. Great looking boards like anywhere else for cheap! The owner also said they are about to offer a new shipping option that get's to the US in 4-5 days that cost 1/3 the price of EMS. Even if you go with the standard $3 shipping, 2 weeks isn't too shabby.

Now for what you want to see, the pics:

Your boards look very nice. I might try them (iTeadStudio) in the future. Thanks for your review.

I'm still waiting for my boards to arrive. They were sent out 8 days after my order, which is quite good. Especially for the price.

I'll report back here what I have to say, once I've seen them. But I suspect they'll be fine.

2 weeks shipping is pretty long... but it sure does beat batchpcb

2 weeks is slow for $3 budget shipping? I've ordered other things from china that took 4-6 weeks. Either way, they are supposed to have a new shipping option soon that is around $10 for 4-5 days to the US.

Relative to the price it's fair, but I'm used to getting things within the week (but generally not from China), which is why I said the above.

Well anything in the US is what, $60 minimum for one board?

I've never ordered within US. I ordered from sunstone, which is also china based (I am pretty sure, at least), and it was here within two weeks. Albeit, I paid 150+ for the board (10 x 7 inch, if I recall correctly) and shipping.

Got my boards from Itead as well a week ago. Looks great at a great price. A few of the vias have some metal "stuff" inside which can problebly be pushed out easily.

How do they cut your boards? Is it to the size they determine (the 5cm by 5cm or 10cm by 10cm) or is it by your specified dimension lines? Also, do they cut boards in "exotic" shapes like BatchPCB?

I think they route your boards per your design outline. His board just happens to be very square.

BTW, I've made my Phi-1 shield with seeed studio. I'm pretty happy with the quality.

If anyone wants pictures, here they are:
Actual images are big so I didn't embed them:

They packed the boards in some heat-shrink wraps about 26 boards per bag and provided a few extras (I ordered 100 though).

I'll try iTeadstudio next time, maybe with some POV board.
