Forum maintenance notification: 2023-07-31 12:00 AM - 12:00 PM UTC

Discourse has announced they will be performing scheduled maintenance on the server hosting Arduino Forum during the following period:

2023-07-31 12:00 AM - 2023-07-31 12:00 PM UTC

At some point during this maintenance period, the forum may be in a "read only" state. During this time, the forum content will continue to be available, but attempting any operation that would require a "write" to the database will be blocked, as communicated by the appearance of a "An error occurred: The site is in read only mode. Interactions are disabled." dialog:

The read only state is expected to last less than 10 minutes.

Is this a real UTC time? I'd expect 24 hour format, in detail because it's hard to tell whether 12:00 PM is 12:00 or 24:00.

Yes:

I also prefer 24 hour format for my own purposes. But the fact is that 12 hour format is much more widely used. And there is nothing about the use of the UTC time zone that necessitates a 24 hour format be used.

How could it possibly be hard to tell what 12:00 PM is??? This is something learned in grade school.

Wikipedia and me disagree.

Not me. Depends on country, I think.

Only in the last years I recognized that there is a definition problem with just 12:00 AM/PM because noon (meridiem) is at 12:00 and can not be before or after itself. So for avoidance of confusion I vote for using 24 hour format in worldwide announcements. It's shorter BTW

A whole day?
You should pin this to the top.

The scheduled maintenance window is half a day. But Arduino Forum will only be impacted for a period of less than 10 minutes at some point during that window. Even during that time, the forum can be browsed. You only won't be able to perform any operation that would require writing to the database (e.g., making a post).

Most users won't even notice it happened.
