Fried certain component on arduino uno

hello, i have an arduino uno, and i recently burnt out (via an electrical accident) a small black component/chip on the board, near the DC Power jack. i am unsure what that component is, in addition, the board still works only under USB power. i need to repair it so it will work off DC power. can somebody help me in finding that part to replace it? i can post pictures of the board if necessary. thanks in advance.

Is it the big chip just above the power jack with one large lead on the left and three smaller leads on the right? That would be the 5V voltage regulator. Not too hard to replace.

How about a picture?

i am pretty sure it is not the power regulator, i will put a picture up when i get home. it was more like a diode set up, two leads on opposite sides. with a black plastic center.
EDIT: i cant post a picture, but on the main website with the picture of the arduino, it is two the upper right of the power jack. i also have an extra arduino that is broken, that still has the broken part and i will try and transplant it from there. i'd still like to know where to find one.

The two gold looking pieces, the piece between them marked LPFL, or right above it marked 09T1RSR?

The part labeled GW4007, the two golding looking pieces, the chip to their lower right marked LPFL, or the 8 pin package to the left of the 4 blank solder pads?

No, not those, but on the smd the part is labeled M7 upside down in the pic

It's a diode - D1 on the schematic for the UNO:

See the power jack/supply schematic at top right of the PDF...

Not sure what the value is, but I would bet you could replace it with a 1n4007 or similar (likely, the marking M7 means the same - see http://www.kingtronics.com/diodes-rectifiers/M7-diode.html) and be OK.

thank you. i will try to repair it. have a nice day.
