I just got this ftdi chip converter module from ebay. I installed all driver and went into device manager to see ftdi232rl uart. But whenever I upload a program to the atmega328, it says "avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00". What do I do???
I even re uploaded arduino uno bootloader.
What are you connecting it to, and how is it connected?
Rx to Tx, Tx to Rx, Gnd to Gnd, DTR to ? 0.1uF to Reset pin?

Yes I hooked up everything correctly with that 100nF capacitor too!
Which FTDI driver are you using? There was some discussion here that the latest driver might have issues with some OSs. Might need to drop back a revision.
