I just finished making a furnace using resistive wire as an element and passing 240vac through it I have got it running and have got it up to temperatures of about 1200c I use it mostly for melting aluminium and the whole setup works well
I want to make a control panel with arduino with a thermocouple monitoring the temperature and an LCD with the current temperature and I want to be able to set the min and max temperatures so it will use a relay to switch the heating element on and off to control the temperature and keep it between the min and max values
could anyone help
by the way i have got a thermocouple the will measure up to 1300c
Acutally my first step would be to look at Ebay for some cheap prefabricated pid controller. This will save a lot of time and might not be more expensive at all because it already contains most - if not all - the necessary parts. E.g. http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-240VAC-Digital-PID-Temperature-controller-25A-SSR-Heat-sink-K-sensor-/320854590116?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ab46c82a4
its good but I would like to make my own with arduino
