Gah! Arduino troubles.

It will not load to the board. I've installed the driver, put it on the right port, put it software on the same port and right board. I've set the buad rate to what I think is correct, but I keep getting this:

avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00
avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp0x51

Hope this helps, and thanks beforehand.

Well, why don't you tell us:

What Arduino board are you using?
What chip is on it (168 or 328)?
Where did you get it from?
What OS are you using?

...and maybe someone can help.

Sorry...

Using windows,
on a duemilanove,
and an atmega 328.
Got it from sparkfun.

Grrrr! Its frustrating.

see that thread.

I don't think (by looking at the price) the atmega 328 from sparkfun comes with the bootloader on it.
(In the description there is also no reference to a bootloader.)

They seem to sell them in both flavors, with and without bootloader:

Both sparkfun links point to 168, not 328.
I only looked at this one:

I guess he got the duemilanove equiped with a 328... and then it should have a bootloader. Or do they really sell Arudinos without bootloader??

thebluecommander: select the right board (as in the other thread that was mentioned here) and your Arduino should run. And of course select the right serial port in the menu, too.
Please tell us if it works.
