Hi, I'm BeardyMike.
I build and repair computers for a living, I've a surgeon's hand for soldering, I'm not afraid of wiring or complex projects, but I don't know how to code.
In my spare time, I have made some GameBoys into Android controllers. Wireless Anrdoid GameBoy Controller - Album on Imgur - very proud.
I use a Wii Controller, I reroute the buttons around and it works. But; it's like spaghetti inside and I have to carefully remove bits of the Wiimote to make it all fit.
I have a project in mind;
I want to replace the WiiMote with an Arduino and a bluetooth module. I've never used an Arduino before, and I have no idea how to code them. So I'm asking you for help.
I need help choosing the right components:
- A Small Arduino.
- A Bluetooth Module.
- Suitable power source (2 AA's) It needs to be as low voltage as possible.
Project Plan
Remove the battery bay and use an Arduino mini pro along with Bluetooth Module
Wire the 8 buttons to the Arduino all sharing a common GRND and have it emulate a keyboard via bluetooth.
UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT = keyboard Arrows
A = A
B = B
Start = Enter
Select = Home
I'd like to change the bluetooth name if possible, BlueBoid (Bluetooth-GameBoy-Android) or something similar.
I would need some help/pointers on writing the code for this. (if someone can donate a little time and actually go through it with me that'd be grand).
If you can think of anything I will need please let me know.
If there is a good post to help please let me know and I will include the good bits (with credits) in this post.
