General advice on building a solar garden led lamp

Hi there.

Am very much a beginner to electronics and am (very slowly) reading all I can to get up-to-speed.

I am hoping that by getting advice on what I am doing wrong/right, with a project, it will help me a little quicker.

At the moment, I am thinking of building one of those garden solar lamps that comes on when it gets dark.

Where do I start in terms of what parts I will need?

I want to use a solar panel to charge a regular rechargeable 1.2v AA battery.

Does this dictate the type of solar panel I will need to buy?

Is there a maximum voltage and current that you can use to charge such a battery?

This is not an Arduino project. GOOGLE solar powered lamp.

Yes, depends on the battery type and size. Check the battery specifications.

For DIY construction projects, search for "diy solar garden light".

Sorry - I accept that it was being a bit cheeky, posting a non-Arudino question on here.

I was just after a few general electronics pointers and everyone seems so knowledgeable on here.

Shall find a general beginners electronics forum to continue this.

Thanks very much.
