The subject says it all. I'm a total noob by the way. I have several small displays but I don't know which pin is which and what to hook to what. I think if I at least knew how to figure out what each pin is, that would be a good start.

Actually no. Most of them have 16 pins if the backlight led is on the same connector or 14 pins with the 2 backlight led pens at the short end of the right side. I'm not familiar with 12 pin lcd displays. Are there pin numbers or any other markings like a part number?
Where did you get them ? Did you buy them on ebay ? Do you have a vendor link ?
The one in the picture, I salvaged out of something. I think it was a clock because randomly touching pins to power I saw "P.M." once. I have 3 more that I got from goldmine-electronics. One appears to be 40 pins, one is 28 pins, and one I guess is basically garbage because it has no pins. Only the 40 pin has any numbers on it: "6810/WMY/3-C1 . 110"
