Hi, is there any option to generate binary codes in Arduino PLC IDE? I would like to generate binaries and sen them to the customer so he can update code without sharing the program.

I only find an option in build output settings but I do not know how to put this binaries to Arduino portenta machine controle to make it work.

For at least the last 50 years, all computer data has been binary. WHAT, exactly are you referring to?

I highly recommend you reconsider your goal of sending binary data. Sending binary can be problematic. You will be sending over 2,000,000 bits of data without any mistooks. The standard is ‘S’ or ‘Hex’ records which at least have a checksum are typically sent a byte at a time. The receiver gets the address of where to place the data and the ability (checksum) to validate the record.

The computer has and uses only uses 1’s or 0’s, Hex, decimal, binary, octal, etc are a method used to show those bits in a human readable format.

I'll try to make the OP's words more understandable 🙂

It seems to me that this isn't about the data, but about the program. By offering an upgrade to his code, the author wants to generate the compiled firmware on their PC and send it to the client, instead of sharing the source code.

If that is the case, Then the OP needs to consider why the need to upgrade. Is he sending devices that have not been thoroughly tested? Or is he dealing with customers that are not satisfied with his product?

Since there is obviously communications taking place between the customer’s pc and the Arduino product, he might consider the PC program sending parameters to the Arduino program. The customer could change the parameter values.

Or he could change his program to be an interpreter and put it’s input/program in a text file on the PC so it could be uploaded to the Arduino at starting time.

By sharing the compiled firmware invites a dead system if only one minor mistake is made.

Exactly right. I want to generate code with some additional funcions that customer wants. All I want to share with customer is binnary files and instructions how to replace the software if it this possible in Arduino PLC IDE. In Arduino IDE you can generate hex file but what you can do in Arduino PLC IDE?
