Get your bot to Pan & Tilt its head

I have few of these Pan & Tilt heads for Arduino applications. Please have a look:

Pan Tilt Servo Bracket robots Arduino Sparkfun Pololu

They are just perfect for paining and tilting sensors, like: video cams, ultra sound and IR rangefinders etc.

Nice. How much weight can these brackets support?

I ordered one

cowjam, if that was your order, you might want to know that I just mailed it, 1st class recorded.

junkdna, brackets are made of aluminum sheet, they are strong enough for shifting sensors and probably a whole prototype board. Maybe not good enough for something really mechanical.

Yay! Thanks.

The servo's will break well before the brackets do.
Mind you, the servo's aren't that strong.. only 15Ncm, but should be plenty for sensors and such (even if you include a breadboard).

Imahilus is right, do not try to crush rocks with it. Lets see who puts it into the best use. I am making a ultrasonic radar station, plus I am doing one other project with it that I want to keep secret

Martyn and Laurent, I dispatched your orders to US and France respectively.

Che x3 and Brian x1, your brackets were dispatched today. They are really going as a hot cakes.

I'm not suprised.
Just a shame it is e-bay, I dread that place.. might want to purchase one otherwise.
Do you offer other sale methods?

Why? Have you had problems?

I've been using ebay for years, and while it is nothing like it used to be way back when it first started, I still find it a valuable resource (just yesterday I received a 32 gig SSD for my eeepc that worked perfectly).

You already "know" this seller - so it should work out OK.

For other sellers, you have to do some research before buying; the feedback section is most important. If the feedback looks -too- good, though, search/troll the comment forums on ebay - sometimes you might find what seems like a good apple is actually "rotten" in some way. Other times you might find everything is a-ok.

Finally, if it feels hinky or otherwise seems like it may be a scam, then it probably is - stay away, trust your gut. I can just say from experience, though, I haven't had issues with products or sellers I have purchased from there (except for the occasional item not received, in which case every time the seller promptly refunded my money when I brought it to his attention). Most of the things I have bought from ebay sellers have been sub-$500.00 items (most sub-$50.00).

Another recent transaction that went great: I picked up an electric transaxle for a mobility chair (possible future high-power robot differential drive!) - got it for $50.00 and free shipping (he either was just trying to get rid of it or something - he had to lose out on the shipping; it was 30+ pounds of weight!).

YMMV

Simply put, I get that feeling with e-bay in general.

I use paypal with ebay and they have handled any issues to my satisfaction. Note that the ebay products often have low prices with very high shipping and handling, which is may not be recoverable per the fine print in the seller's guarantee.

eBay is the most trustworthy place on the planet. You can see the score of the people and all the previous transactions they've done. If anybody is being silly, it shows in real time 8-).

Among other 300 things, I bought on eBay my car, all my shoes! Practically, the only thing I do not buy on eBay are groceries ;D

eBay is particularly tough on sellers, one bad customer report and eBay would close your account. Yeah, check that

Most of these are done to scam ebay out of transaction fees. You see this a lot with things being drop-shipped out of china/hong-kong/etc. I tend to stay away from such deals unless they are on an item that would cost me a lot of money doing it "the right way" (got a good deal on a 900 MHz wireless camera system that way).

When I use ebay, I try to find sellers who I have a gut feeling will "do me right" and not scam me. So far, I've only had a couple of experiences that were "less than good". One involved the lost item (this was a recent thing, too - on an LP I was buying), but was resolved really quickly. The other happenned several years ago with some computer memory. I had sent the paypal transaction, but the guy never actually transferred the money. Numerous messages to him went unanswered. I found out later that he was a known scammer, and many others had gotten burned. I quickly reversed the charge, and never heard anything about it.

I've also done the "no-no" of ebay transactions a couple of times; both were on fairly "big-ticket" virtual reality items. Basically, it went like this: I bid my amount, somebody else outbid me, but then reneged on paying the amount (a few hundred dollars in both cases). So, the seller contacted me as the "next highest bidder", and asked if I wanted the item for the high bid. Generally, the high bid was only a few dollars higher than my max bid, and since these were both items I really, really wanted (one was pro-level HMD, the other an Ascension 3D Magnetic Tracker kit) - I went ahead with the deal. Both sellers had good feedback levels, and I payed with my credit card both times in case of problems.

Both items were received, with no issues at all (both worked perfectly, too).

Mine arrived yesterday, thanks!

I'll leave feedback as soon as I get chance - I can't ebay at work and I was out straight from work last night.

Just so you know, I intend to put a webcam on it. If all goes well I'll be making a larger pan/tilt setup for an SLR, but I'll use mecanno and motors for that.

dispatched 3 more, to: Jim, John and Richard. Thanks guys.

Mine arrived on Suterday. Looks nice. I am going to do 'unpacking' video on YouTube ;D

one more is gone to Italy
