Hi

i'm very new to Arduino and have little to no understanding about how to work with it. i keep running into the same problem every time i try to upload a sketch. i've already uninstalled and installed the software and tried to switch COM. i also can't properly identefie the problem aswell. this is the error message

avrdude: ser_open(): can't set com-state for "\.\COM1"
An error occurred while uploading the sketch

it seems as if the device it locked somehow but i'm not sure. can someone explain to me what i have to do it would be awesome. also i work on Windows 10 and there are to lights on the Arduino the L is blinking and de ON is steady they are both red

COM 1 is a default windows port and usually NOT an Arduino.

You should be seeing another COM port.
If it is a clone arduino you will need other drivers from here

Yes its a Chinese site but the drivers are legitimate.

it's not working either and i already used google but i can't find a solution for my problem

it has something to do with the upload of a sketch. my USB cable is fine and i use the right COM port. but if i go to board info (in Arduino 1.8.3) it says it's an unknown board even tho my laptop sees it as an arduino Genuino Uno.
