Using Arduino Installation & Troubleshooting

I am very new to Arduino and can't get the IDE software to start, I keep getting a Java Virtual Machine Launcher error message "Can't find the main class: processing.app.base" I have re-installed all the software(java included) a few times and done the old CTRl/Alt/Delete but to no avail, can anyone help me get started?

Are you launching the IDE from inside the arduino folder?

I have the arduino software as an icon on my desktop?

Try running from the location you installed the arduino folder
