What are the 2 ICs, what are the yellow blobs on the left and what part does the DIP switch play in the project ?
All you really need is 6 inputs with a pinMode of INPUT_PULLUP and 6 pairs of contacts on the cartridge that you bridge GND to create the unique cartridge bit pattern
