Good Or Crap??

I'm looking for a decent LCD that isn't green or yellow and found this.
So I'm assuming it's too good to be true, correct?

Also after more than likely being told it's crap and that I shouldn't(I won't) buy it,isn't it as easy with any generic HD44780 as changing a few numbers so I can get 16X2,16X3 or 16X4 to work when your using the 6 pin code ?

I have no direct experience with that LCD but it will probably work with the Arduino LiquidCrystal library.

I'm not particular, I just dislike green and yellow.

I can't use anymore than 6 pins or Lcd can't be used.
I'm somewhat worried that if I buy it I'm stuck with it,
and there sin't many people who have driven one.

Might just go with the 16X2 since it's been used so much.

But you can use it with the 4 bit library, sure. And why can't you use anymore than 6 pins? I'm guessing that's just the amount you have spare, if that's the case you can also look into something like this.. but it's always an addition you might not want, extra money is.. money! But then again pins are pins.. :slight_smile:

The LiquidCrystal library distributed with Arduino 0017 is easier to use and more capable than lcd4bit.

I use a non-descript white on blue 16*2 I found on ebay UK ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270143465646 ), it looks very similar to the one in question. I have it working using 6 pins (R/W hooked to ground) and it works fine with either the 4bit Library or the official one. (The official one is far better IMO, it doesn't guzzle as many clock cycles :wink: )

Well the pin count was inaccurate .... sorta.

If that's the standard pinout I can live with it,
I thought it used almost all of your digital IO pins but that's not the case,
and I am one for stability not risk taking and pulling out my hair :lol:
Can't I use the TX and RX pins,
provided that they aren't being used for anything else ?
Even if I can't I still have 6 Digital IO pins left so I think I'm okay.

Yet another dumb question,
can I use a 20X4 or 16X4 with the standard liquid crystal library?
