just found this Arduino Playground - GPS and might try and use it for a project, I want to adapt a lawnmower to a gps mower
it will need to be quite accurate talking 5cm to make it a success
anyone used it and able to comment on how accurate it is

Perhaps you could use a form of differential GPS where a nearby fixed-position GPS module of the same type is uses to track errors over time.
Unless you have a really big lawn, I wouldn't use GPS, at least not on its own. Even using differential GPS, you might get accuracy down to a few metres, but there is no chance of 5cm accuracy.

In a hobby environment, no, but the road construction industry uses GPS graders to this kind of accuracy.
It is quite strange to see a bulldozer with a GPS antenna on each end of the blade!
