I am trying to piece together a data logging system for a car. I want to make sure that the GPS location is available at all times so I am looking for a GPS chipset that has the capability of adding and external antenna. Any suggestions?, I am having no luck on trying to find what I want.
IIRC, sparkfun has some GPS modules that have external antenna connections. Some commercial receivers have external antenna connections (e.g. Garmin MAP60).
There are also "mouse type" GPS receivers that are on the end of a long enough cable so that you can place the GPS as if it were an antenna. Examples are the Garmin GPS18 or the Argent Data Systems ADS-GM1.
