I bought this GPS RadioShack.com Official Site - America's Technology Store
It works well I can get speed,heading,time,date all are accurate, but the latitude and longitude are inaccurate. I looked up the coordinates on Google maps and it was about 100 miles off. Is there a difference in types of coordinates? the number it outputs is 08xxx.xxxx and 2xxx.xxxx

Having the wrong geoid (Sp.?) will put you a few hundred metres out, but not miles.
Can you post an exact example?
It seems more like a misinterpretation of the format.
okay well I found this is the format that the gps gives out

I need to figure out a way to convert it to coordinates on google maps. google maps wants coordinates like this.
36.632267,-79.271257
Take the 'minutes' parts (07.038 and 31.000) and divide them by 60 to get fractional degrees. Add that the to degree part (48 and 011) to get Google coordinates: 48.1173 and 011.5166
