GPU get hot from using serial plotter - Linux / nVidia

Hi. I've searched high and low for post about this topic, but have unable to find anything, so:
Does anyone else experience full load on their nvidia GPU, when running the serial plotter?

I run linux with the nvidia drivers, and after 5-10mins of plotting, my GPU is ready for making a british breakfast - sausages, eggs 'n all.
Powermizer running on highest setting etc.

Is there something I can do about this? It is not like plotting is the most demanding task..

Thanks

I think I have found an answer to this: When using KDE/Plasma desktop (and perhaps others), the window manager will allocate highest priority / most resources to the active window..

So if I want to watch the plotter, I can have it running maximized on one screen, and just click any other window and the plotter is no longer prioritized and thus frees up the GPU.
This can be seen in the nVidia tool under Powermizer. The level drops from 3 to 0 when focus is shifted away from the plotter.
