I was thinking, incorrectly, that the Mega had 54 pins total. You are correct. You can use the analog pins as digital pins, for a total of 70, IF you don't need Serial.

There are no details on that useless page that describe whether or not there are already transistors involved. But, the little black things along the edge of the part look like transistors. So, you are probably safe driving 60 of them.
