Can anyone recommend a cheap GSM sheild that works ? I've looked on the official Ardunio website and can only find sheilds that are retired. I require a GSM shield that
links to a tutorial so I can set up without alot of head scratching. Im very very new to this so need something thats simple to set up.

That is the operative word. You require a shield that is compatible with the phone system available to you. Know that, and then you can know the shield. The retired shield you refer to may be a 2G, which is not much use if you have a 4G network.
