GSM shield and Mega ADK (first version)

I have problems getting the GSM Shield working with my Mega ADK. When i connect the shield to an Uno everything works (SMS example and GPRS example). Same code on the Mega ADK and the Shield will not connect to the modem. I have bent pin number two and connected it to pin 10 as described in the manual.

What am i missing?

Some additional information:
I have managed the MEGA ADK to connect to the modem by enabling the GSM library debug mode. When debug is enabled it works sometimes, but very unreliable. Most of the time it just hangs in the middle of a sequence of AT commands.
