Hi,
Is the GSM shield compatible with the arduino uno.
I intend to buy a GSM shield i just want to know if it would work with my uno.

Almost all shields are PRIMARILY compatible with the Arduino UNO. The GSM Shield is.

In fact the official Arduino GSM shield (if you can get one) is more compatible with the Uno than the Mega or Leonardo!

There are other GSM modules for instance the Siemans tcm 35.

This needs only three wires ... TX,RX and Gnd interface between GSM and Arduino

Then you can control GSM using the AT command set and have 100% control of the GSM side of the system.
