Hello to all friends
Does anyone have experience working with the GY-NEO-6MV2 module (ublox gps)
I am very grateful to the dear ones who are kind and answer my questions.
Did you face the heating of the module during the first start-up?
How long did it take for your first setup (to see the LED flash)?
I would be happy to hear if you had a useful experience in setting up and using it.
Please follow the forum rules and post a wiring diagram, links to the product page for the components, state which Arduino, and post the code you are using, with code tags.
There are many reports of counterfeit NEO-6M GPS units, so if you bought this cheaply on Alibaba or similar, it is probably not a genuine Ublox module.
If the module actually became hot, it is either defective/counterfeit or was likely destroyed by a wiring error, e.g. incorrect power supply voltage or polarity.
When the uBlox is operating, even if it can't see a single satellite, there's several NMEA sentences being produced at the serial output every second. It should never, ever, be silent.
You're not seeing any output, and it's getting hot... it's dead. As @jremington already wrote, whether it was defective or destroyed by a wiring error is the only remaining question.
I would also agree that normally a GPS will produce some NMEA sentences even when there is no antenna connected or your deep underground (and yes I have tried).
So agree with the other comments, if there is no NMEA sentences then most likely the GPS is naffed.
It is possible to configure the GPS to turn off the NMEA sentences, but there will still be a bit of serial output on startup/powerup.
