H-Bridge MOSFET 24V up to 6A

I’ll inspired by topic {http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php/topic,16654.0.html}. But I need some HW modification. I planned to use 2 phase stepper motor 24V VC. Max 6A. It’ll be part of electronic control four-way valve for my heating system. Therefore speed of motor was much slowed. Valve more time stopped. (It better switch off power into FETs) or somehow add module for decrease current.
I n original schema is used FQP47P06 as P (problem to order), NDP6060L. Driver TC4428 (problem t is only up to 18v) I haven’t seen acceptable part with DUAL channel.

You will get huge current transients due to shoot through current with that design, when you change one of the outputs from high to low or vice versa. Don't try to design your own H-bridge from scratch. Use either a chip that has it all integrated, or at least a chip designed for driving both the upper and lower mosfets, with a built-in delay to avoid shoot-through.

Thank you for your answer. I read lot of article about this problems, somebody tell isn’t so difficult, but another has same opinion as you. Ok, you said that it wanted to use integrated component (It would be nice if it existed). I don’t want to design own circuits. I haven’t seen any IOs (or article) for this huge current.

Yes, Ok. I found something, TLE 7209-2R, 30V up to 6A even SPI control. It is for only for one phase.
What I should control two phase with two modules ?



That chip is designed for DC motors, not stepper motors. For a stepper of that size, you will probably find that the resistance per phase is much less than the 4 ohms implied by the 24V and 6A rating. This means that you either need to run it from a much reduced voltage (so as to keep the current to no more than 6A), or use a proper stepper motor driver chip with chopper-controlled output current (which will allow higher speeds). Can you post a link to the datasheet for the stepper?

Sounds very unlikely spec for a stepper - please provide a link to the datasheet.

Thanks for your replay. I attached datasheet it is only my national language (Czech), but it there isn’t too long. (It is motor witch I’m going to buy it – good price)

Which model of stepper on that datasheet do you have? There are 3 models rated at 6A per phase, with winding resistances of 0.29, 0.36 and 0.46 ohms. So the maximum continuous voltage you can put across each phase is either 1.74, 2.16 or 2.76 volts.

Unless you are intending to drive those steppers at high speeds, you would be better off getting motors designed for lower current and higher voltage. (motor is SM2861-5055 - sorry there aren’t in datasheet. )
I found out that I have huge unacquaintance about this stepper motor.
I tried to describe what I have what I need.
I have power 24V DC / max 7A. torque up , 3 Nm. Speed very slow.
What motor could I use, what driver.
I found on ebay Dual H-B ridge (with mosfets). Is it reliability?

To control a high powered stepper motor like that, you must use a chopper-type driver that regulates the current, not a DC motor driver like the one you linked to.
