Hacking a digital alarm clock with Arduino

Hi there,

I was wondering if it was possible for me to hack my Sony digital alarm clock and display a custom message on it. Or something like this- arduino counter clock alarm hack - YouTube

I would appreciate any help and suggestions as to what kind of supplies I need to successfully complete this type of project. As of right now, all I have is an Arduino Uno and a USB cable.

Here is the clock I will be using- http://i.ytimg.com/vi/6o5bVqptBAo/0.jpg

Also, if you have any other cool project ideas, let me know. I would prefer to hack stuff around the house instead of building completely new devices. Like maybe hack my coffee pot or something.

Thanks!

For hacking around the house you have to get into relay modules or shields.... I started messing with them a couple of weeks ago and now im having a blast with my uno and micro. The best part about messing with relays is, is that they are cheap i picked up 5 single 250v @ 10A rated relays for like 5 bucks on ebay and Im controlling all sorts of my devices now. Happy Hacking

Well, to know about the display and how it works, read this recent discussion.

Now how you "hack" a working clock - without damage - that is another question.

I don't think they are going to fit into that clock!

eh make a box that goes on the back of the clock.
